Operation Desert Storm

Joint Combat Camera Team

Kirk started his career in the United States Air Force, originally as an enlisted member. While stationed at Seymour-Johnson AFB in North Carolina, he earned his Bachelor's Degree, Summa Cum Laude, at Mount Olive College.  He was then deployed to the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm and served on the 4th Provisional Air Wing's Joint Combat Camera Team where his duties included bomb damage assessment, target identification, and processing of combat imagery associated with tactical air missions.  

 

After Desert Storm, Kirk transferred to the Air Force Reserve and attended Law School at the University of Buffalo in his hometown of Buffalo, New York.  After graduation from Law School, he accepted a commission as an officer in the Air Force JAG Department.  He served the first two years of his commission as a prosecutor, acting as Chief of Military Justice at Scott AFB, Illinois.   He was also designated a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Illinois, where he prosecuted cases arising in Federal Jurisdiction, including mail fraud, wire fraud, and a variety of other Federal charges.

 

After being promoted to Captain, Kirk was then designated the Area Defense Counsel at Peterson AFB, Colorado, where he represented defendant's assigned to military intallations at NORAD, Fort Carson, the Air Force Academy, Peterson AFB, Woomera AB (Australia), Thule AB (Greenland), and Falcon AFB.  He was also detailed to represent a number of other high profile military members throughout the country in complicated cases.  

 

Having found his calling, Kirk decided to continue his defense practice and entered civlian practice after 13 years in the Air Force.  He moved to Wisconsin in the 1990s and has been practicing criminal defense ever since.
